A peaceful rural retreat for four close to sandy beaches
Drive through down a private track to a treat for four. The deep blue sea shimmers to the right in the distance, and long green views envelop your journey to Easter Cabin. What a location! This log cabin is a rural idyll where sheep graze the surrounding land.
You are tucked away on the owners’ farm, and there’s another shepherd's hut in a meadow nearby called Ynys Hideout (a handy Bolthole for two which can be booked separately).
Step out of your door and savour the quiet surroundings - you can’t see anybody, and nobody can see you. It is lovely to sit out here birdwatching or chatting with a glass of wine while you barbecue supper and admire the sunset and views over Anglesey. Dog-friendly, there are miles of walking to be enjoyed with beautiful sandy beaches for waggy friends to explore.
Light and colour fill the sociable, open plan living space, which opens onto steps down to the garden. Bold canvasses hang on the walls; there’s plenty of comfortable seating, piles of DVDs, a large TV and a great fire effect wood stove. Leading off is a kitchen - fresh, spotless and well-equipped. With pretty patterned curtains and restful views, the dining space is a delicious place for lingering breakfasts.
Two bedrooms have finely dressed beds and good storage. Next door, a smart bathroom is all you need to get you ready for the day.
Walking from here is sublime, either at the coast or inland for hilly strolls. The cabin is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, you are right on Mynydd Mechell and the beach is a 40-minute walk away. Down at Moelfre is Ann’s Pantry for cake indulgence or the Beach Shop at Traeth Bychan for a hearty snack.
Further along the coast is Red Wharf Bay, a firm favourite for many visitors to Anglesey. You must visit The Boathouse, a family-owned beachfront café and restaurant with a warm welcome.
You could be out all day: foraging, walking, cycling and exploring. And when you return, do take time to listen and watch for owls…
