A stunning big Bolthole for 14 and a hot tub with amazing views
Climb the private track from the mouth of the beach at Red Wharf Bay up to the forest's edge, and you'll arrive at the most magical place. Tan y Fron perches high above this beautiful beach and commands some of the best views on the island.
Indeed, the recent renovation of Tan y Fron has enabled a redesign where every living room and bedroom now uses those beautiful sea views. Bi-fold doors lead seamlessly to garden terraces, blurring the lines between inside and out.
The original cottage has a fascinating history, and the owner has transformed it into a luxurious coastal Bolthole. Here even the largest extended families or groups of friends can find space to stretch out and relax.
Open the main door into the hallway, and your eye is immediately drawn to the window seats and the first glimpses of the beach below. Venture through into the snug where the original inglenook fireplace and round stained glass window have been preserved. This contrasts with the next room, a huge surround-sound cinema room with space for everyone to sit back and enjoy a film. A woodburning stove keeps it cosy and French windows lead out onto the terraces.
Stairs lead up to the three bedrooms in the west wing. Two are king-size, one is a twin, and all have ensuite shower rooms.
To the east wing of the house, you'll find an incredibly well-equipped kitchen with everything you could want to cook for a large group. There's even a wine cooler, two ovens and two dishwashers.
Steps lead down to the main living room, where you will find another wood-burning stove and TV. Bifold doors open from here onto a range of terraces, including a hot tub, a large outside dining area and a fire pit area. The views from each are magical.
Upstairs in the east wing, you'll find four further bedrooms - a beautiful super king room, a king, a double and a twin, each with ensuite shower/bathrooms.
Tan y Fron has several acres of private land stretching up to the forest above, where there are some great walks. Alternatively, head downhill towards the coast and walk to the beaches below or stroll around the bay to the excellent Ship Inn, The Boathouse, or the Tavern On The Bay.
