This pretty coastal holiday cottage is accessed down a long drive opposite the Bodior Estate woods. Mind as you go, as the ducks from the little pond adjacent to The Old Dairy like to provide a warm welcome!
The Old Dairy may be over 250 years old but has been impeccably renovated. No draughty milking parlour here! The large patio doors welcome you through to a bright and airy living space, with wooden floors, a high ceiling and uninterrupted views of Rhoscolyn across the paddock and fields. The Laura Ashley sofa and toe-warming joy of the electric wood burner provide the best place to huddle when the weather turns cold...don’t worry, there is underfloor heating throughout to keep your feet toasty.
The smart, modern kitchen is tucked away neatly in the living space and is well-equipped with modern appliances, a dishwasher and all that you need for those cosy evening meals in. The dining table and chairs make for a perfect supper by the fire.
After a day of beachcombing, the main bedroom is also an amazing space to settle in. With an enormous window with window seat and a vaulted ceiling, it's a complete joy, offering the most stunning of views. Stargaze at night through the large roof lights, or just gaze at the country views. With plumped pillows and beautiful high thread count cotton linens, you'd be hard pushed to find a more luxurious space to sink into when it's time to put your head down. Fit for a king, the super king bed can be offered as two single beds too. Wake every morning in your very own little piece of heaven. Head down and feet up, it's time to relax, boutique style.
A beautifully styled shower room leads from the main bedroom. With a walk-in shower and a large heated towel rail, this is the perfect cosy place to wash away the salt water from afternoons spent on Rhoscolyn beach.
If you dream about alfresco dining enjoying a magical sunset surrounded by nothing but views, then you have found your perfect holiday destination. Even if there is a slight nip in the air then the newly added sunroom, with light pouring in through the enormous windows, will make you feel you are still outside. Pop down to Rhoscolyn beach (known locally as Borthwen) which is just down the road, buy some crab, lobster or fresh fish and return to barbeque your purchased morsels on the outdoor large open fireplace in the private paddock. Or just throw open the patio doors onto your private patio area to let in the views when the evenings are baking hot. Views really are spectacular from your own private vantage point.
With the large private paddock with trees and shrubs surrounded by beautiful Rhoscolyn countryside, you will really be hard pushed to stray from this lovely garden. A wander around the corner will provide a hidden oasis and a real perk of The Old Dairy – the duck pond. Take a glass of wine with you and feel your cares just melt away when you watch the little ducks at play.
Your retreat offers private parking spaces right by the door and there is plenty of room too for boat storage or canoes. The owner lives adjacent to The Old Dairy and is on hand for anything you may need.
Rhoscolyn itself is a small scattered village located on the Holy Island. In an Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB), it is excellent for sailing, kayaking and canoeing and leads to hidden beaches and clandestine coves. The Old Dairy is situated in this lovely area and is the perfect base for walkers as the Anglesey Coastal Footpath runs right past and leads down to Rhoscolyn beach. It has excellent water quality, has a Green Coast Award and is a Marine Conservation Society recommended beach. There are coastal walks on the cliffs from which an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals from the headland.
The cottage is close to the well known White Eagle gastropub with spectacular views across the sea to the Llŷn Peninsula and Snowdonia, fantastic reviews for their food and a hearty welcome. Silver Bay is across from the Bodior Estate, owned by the Bulmer cider making family, and has a bistro at The Hay House, a Spa (by prior arrangement) and boasts a great sandy beach.
