Elegant townhouse overlooking Beaumaris castle
Ty Castell occupies the end of Bulkeley Terrace, right in the heart of historic Beaumaris and overlooking the magnificent castle in its grounds. Open the gates to the private courtyard and you'll find a rarity in medieval Beaumaris- space to park your car or just to unload right outside the front door. The courtyard also serves as an enclosed and sunny space to sit with a morning coffee or sit out in the sun for a BBQ
Enter the house and you'll find a useful boot room and WC on the ground floor and an impressive staircase leads upstairs to the library on the landing and the main rooms on the first floor. Here there is a large and well equipped kitchen with multi oven range cooker and a central island with granite worktops. A table and chairs near the window seat gives an unequalled view of the remarkable castle. Off the kitchen, the dining area comfortably seats ten while the sitting room is also generously proportioned and comfortable. Large sash windows look out over the castle in one direction and out towards the sea in the other. The house was renovated in 2023 but heritage colours and preserved period features ensure the quality and craftsmanship of this important building continues to shine through. Also on the first floor is the Snooker Room, the perfect space for evening entertainment or just pre-dinner drinks in the comfortable wing-back armchairs.
Ty Castell has five spacious bedrooms; the master suite upstairs has a vast Super King Bed and a sofa in the window to soak up the views over the castle as well as a gorgeous ensuite shower room. Also on the second floor are another two superb King sized rooms as well as a twin (which can be made into a Super King on request). There is also a large family bathroom with separate shower on this floor while the fifth king sized room and another shower room are on the first floor.
When it becomes time to head out, you'll find all of the delights of Beaumaris right on your doorstep. The Bull is a few doors down and rightly famous, The Midland is the place for fantastic tapas or try Tredici Butchers and Deli for amazing ingredients with which to cook a meal with. The ice creams at the Redboat ice cream parlour are to die for and of course Beaumaris has plenty of excellent pubs and restaurants, cafes and galleries. The pier and beach are also less than 200 yards from the door.
Down the coast from Porth Hir is Penmon for more historic jaunts – visit Penmon Priory. Or head in the other direction and find Plas Newydd, a National Trust gem or Plas Cadnant gardens – an amazing space for plant fans.
For those after a less sedate day, Rib Ride is an adrenaline adventure down the Menai Strait or Stan offers colourful boating tours on his Starida Puffin Island Cruises and sea fishing.
Ty Castell gives an extended family or a group of friends a spacious and sophisticated space in which to spend time, we dont think you'll be dissapointed!
