Design masterpiece on the beach with Hot Tub and Sauna
Take a moment to daydream and conjure up your perfect beach house....
Chances are it's going to be a stone's throw from a perfect swathe of golden sand, maybe framed in a natural bay by rocky headlands with a scattering of fishermen's cottages dotted around it? Paths may lead along the coast to secret coves, sea-arches, more beaches and dramatic cliffs. A high-hedgerow lane, festooned with wildflowers in spring, may lead to a great pub serving local seafood and a good pint. If your imagination runs away with you, you may even dream up a sauna, a hot tub or balconies galore to admire the sea-views and boutique levels of design and luxury inside.
Glan Towyn delivers this and much more. Its perfectly positioned behind sandy Borthwen Beach in Rhoscolyn, a short walk from the White Eagle. Set in large lawned gardens with flagstoned areas for the sauna, hot tub and huge outside dining table, it's a house designed to be enjoyed by it's lucky guests. The beach is seconds away so when you've had enough of the sauna or hot tub, pop on a wetsuit, grab a kayak or one of the paddleboards (we have a selection) and head out into the bay in search of the visiting porpoises or dolphins. Days can be spent pottering on the beach or exploring the local coastline- the coastal path stretches out in both directions and is stunning. Silver Bay beach and a multitude of tiny coves in one direction; more beaches. cliffs, Bwa Gwyn (the white sea arch) and historic St Gwenfaen's well in the other.
It's a house you'll certainly look forward to returning to though! Step in to the entrance hall and there are clues to what awaits- its fresh and modern but with carefully curated and contrasting pieces of furniture and bold decor. Sleek and modern blends perfectly with traditional and to paraphrase one of the artists who inspired the design, William Morris, everything here is either beautiful or functional.
To the left from the entrance hall, the west wing has four ground floor bedrooms (three of which are ensuite) while the west wing has a further two ground floor bedrooms, a family bathroom and a beautiful sitting room with direct access to the sauna and hot tub outside. Follow the glazed corridor from the entrance hall and another surprise awaits- a games room with huge glass doors to two sides enabling you to bring the outside in on fine days.
Upstairs is sociable and stylish- the kitchen and dining areas are large and airy thanks to the vaulted ceilings and bi-fold doors to both balconies. There is everything you could need to whip up a feast and deliveries of lobster and crab can be arranged- fresh from the sea beneath your balcony! Or for the special night of the holiday, why not ask us about arranging a talented local private chef to cater for you.
The views over the bay, beach and headlands are sublime. The kitchen is as well equipped and considered as you'd expect. Beyond the light filled landing are the upstairs sitting rooms- two connected rooms with separate sitting spaces (the second having access to a third balcony) leading to a wood-paneled drawing room at the far end. With four stunning sitting areas to spread out over, as well as the huge kitchen/dining room, games room, balconies and outside spaces, even the largest multi-generational group would never feel constrained.
Truly a place to make some very special memories.
