Quiet Christmas escapes in North Wales
Somewhere beyond the Christmas bustle, a kettle is coming to the boil.
There are presents still to open, a book left face down and a dog who thinks it’s time for a walk. Outside, the winter light is spreading across the Llŷn Peninsula. You have the whole day ahead, and very few plans for it.
Dream of a cottage near Aberdaron, or a quiet corner of Anglesey where the lanes lead towards the sea. A Christmas Eve ramble at Porthdinllaen, its little fishing village huddled beside the beach. Back at your bolthole, light the fire, pour something warming and let the evening unfold.
For the escapists, Christmas is a chance to slip into another rhythm. Just the two of you, perhaps. You and the dog. A smaller gathering, with more time for everyone in it.
Keep your favourite rituals. Make room for a little Welsh wilderness. Let Christmas feel a world away.
