Welsh adventure awaits this October half term

October half term belongs in the wild. Beneath the turning canopy of Gwydir Forest, paths disappear into gold. Around Newborough, red squirrels make quick work of the pinecones, while autumn rain sends the waterfalls of Eryri into full voice. Out on the Llŷn Peninsula, the sea provides all the space a family needs to roar back.

Spend the week following tracks through the trees, foraging along Welsh hedgerows or taking the coast path beyond its busiest turn. Pick pumpkins, discover old Welsh traditions and meet the spirits that have occupied these mountains, castles and fireside stories for generations. October brings a little magic and mystery to North Wales, and fewer crowds with which to share it.

Then return windblown and full of stories to a bolthole made for the whole wild bunch. Choose a house with a fire ready for crisper evenings, a hot tub beneath the trees or a long table with room for the day’s finds, feasts and retellings.

Stay beside the bright streets and castle walls of Beaumaris, close to the copper paths around Betws-y-Coed or within reach of Abersoch and the wilder edges of Llŷn. There are beach houses seconds from the sea, hideaways near the forest and big boltholes with enough space for everyone to spread out.
