Fancy a last hurrah in North Wales? We know just the spot.

While the summer months might steal the spotlight, those in the know know that September is the best month for a getaway. While we can’t guarantee the weather, what we can guarantee is a bolthole perfectly made for capturing the final flurries of the summer. We’ve handpicked some of our favourite escapes for September that offer all the romance of the summer with a little more breathing room.

Number 49, Beaumaris

This bolthole is the definition of ending summer in style. Lovingly designed by the master, Mairead Turner, it’s a Scandi-lovers dream. With room for 6 guests and dogs, and a short walk into Beaumaris it’s the ideal choice for those wanting a stylish pad to explore Anglesey with their four-legged friends.

After a day letting your pooch run wild on Beaumaris beach or nearby Newborough beach, head back to the house and settle down with a delicious takeaway in front of the woodburning stove before flopping into a comfortable bed with a good book.

Our top tip – make sure you have your morning coffee out in the garden and soak in the views of the Carneddau mountains.

One Beach Road, Rhosneigr

We know that there are many joys of having younger kids, but none is as great as being able to go away outside school holidays. Having babies and toddlers means you’re looking for ease and comfortable convenience, right? Look no further than One Beach Road. This gem, right in the middle of Rhosneigr is made for younger families. Enough room to sleep 10, open plan living, a good-sized garden where you can keep an eye on them and bunk beds for the older ones, it’s very much a family home.

Our top tip – once the kids are in bed, sneak up to the terrace to watch the sun go down with a nice glass of wine!

Hen Cymyran, Anglesey

You’ve been planning a late summer trip to North Wales and all of a sudden word has got out and the whole gang wants to join. You know what they say? Go big or go home. Ending the summer at this sprawling seaside pad will not disappoint. We’re talking 360 coastal views, floor to ceiling windows, a private jetty and a hot tub.

The interiors are light and stylish, and the house has been designed for big groups who also like their own space with plenty of quiet corners to tuck yourself away in for a moment of calm. With 8 spacious bedrooms there’s plenty of room for everyone, but you’ll have to draw straws for the master bedroom which offers stunning views of Traeth Cymyran and the sea beyond.

Now for the exteriors. What else is there to say apart from that this is truly a slice of heaven on earth? Spend your evenings cooking big group dinners outdoors and debriefing on the day. Against a backdrop of sand dunes and ocean views to get lost in you don’t get much better than Hen Cymyran.

Our tip – start the day with a plunge off the private jetty before hopping into the hot tub for a glass of something fizzy.
