A dog-friendly country cottage for six near beaches and walks
Back

Bryn Mel, or Honey Hill Cottage, is a beautiful stone holiday cottage with heaps of character – a true Hideaway. It is tucked away down a country lane, within easy walking distance of the village shop, and is just a couple of miles away from the seaside town of Beaumaris.

Full Description

Bryn Mel has been renovated sympathetically to keep the original character but with all the modern perks. Sash windows let so much light in and allow the gentle colours within to warm the rooms.

Park outside Bryn Mel on the gated drive, open the kitchen door and prepare yourself to be enveloped in a warm hug - feel yourself unwind immediately. The warmth of the Rayburn in the light-filled kitchen couldn’t summarise this cottage more. This is somewhere you come to stay and wish you didn’t have to leave. With a wonderful, enclosed garden with a picnic table, swing chair and bench, not to mention fruit trees for autumn gatherings, this is a place to spend time outside listening to the birds and buzzing bees. A holiday cottage for truly relaxing in.

The owners also stay here and love to cook – a more fully equipped kitchen will be hard to find. Choose between cooking on the Rayburn or using the modern electric hob and oven. Enjoy long cosy dinners in the kitchen or lay the table in the sitting room knowing you haven’t far to go to relax. Sink into a super comfy sofa ready to carry on chatting and catching up on everyone’s news.

The large sitting room doubles as a dining room and light spills in from two windows highlighting the softly painted beams and cosy cottage colours. Light the log fire on chilly evenings – no doubt your four-legged friends will lie out and relax too. Floor cushions await younger guests set to win the latest board game – choose from many in the house.

Sleepyheads are off to bed – upstairs you will find two single bedrooms, a double and a king. Comfy beds with warming throws and pastel colours. Rest is the aim and rest you will. It is just so quiet here, save for the bird song reminding you where you are. A family bathroom with a bath and shower over allows long soaks after a day of exploring.

Sleep soundly as tomorrow is another day to explore the stunning countryside around. Leave your car to rest awhile and explore the beautiful surrounding countryside on foot. Just down the lane, you will find the path to Castell Aberlleiniog – a motte and bailey fortress built between 1080 and 1099. An easy walk from the castle to the shore of the Menai Strait brings you to Lleiniog Beach. Picnic at the tables or wander along the shore for more spectacular sea and mountain views. Walk along the Anglesey Coastal Path to Penmon Priory and the lighthouse at Penmon Point, well worth the miles. Sit on the pebbled beach and watch the waves and warm your hands on a steaming hot chocolate from the nearby cafe. A photographer's dream location whatever the weather.

Things to do

"A perfect home from home. Beautiful house, very private but only a short drive from Beaumaris and easy access for days out on Anglesey and into Snowdonia. Would not hesitate to recommend this house."
"A lovely cottage in a very peaceful setting. There is plenty to see and do in the area. The cottage itself was reasonably well-equipped and very comfortable for our party (4 adults snd a toddler). Beds were comfortable too. Would definitely stay again!"
"Loved the house, very spacious, the decor made it very cosy and enjoyable to spend time in there, didn't want to leave. A very thoughtful tray of goodies was left for us which was a very nice touch. Would definitely stay again if we came back to Anglesey"
"Stayed at Bryn Mel last week and as regular visitors to Anglesey and North Wales, this was by far the best cottage we have stayed at to present. An absolute credit to the owners for their thoughtful and tasteful presentation of the cottage and its beautiful garden. We normally like to stay at a different property each time we visit but have already booked again for 2022 as Bryn Mel is a must for anyone wanting to visit and stay in the area."
