Discover the charm of Felin Hen, a beautifully converted former mill set beside the Menai Strait in the peaceful harbour of Pwllfanogl. Steeped in local history and surrounded by breathtaking scenery, this unique holiday cottage offers a memorable escape for couples, families, and nature lovers alike.
Full Description
Originally built in the eighteenth century as a corn mill, it's had a varied history since including being as a workshop for the production of school writing slates. Indeed, the shoreline is still mostly made up of offcuts of these slates. Industry, and the ferry to the mainland, has long since come to an end at Pwllfanogl, leaving it as a peaceful and hidden creek where the world seems to have stood still and only a handful of waterside cottages remain.
lnside, the cottage combines rustic character with modern comforts. You’ll find cosy living spaces as well as huge vaulted ceiling, a well-equipped kitchen and six inviting bedrooms – all designed to help you relax and feel at home. There's even a galleried library and table tennis area! Step outside to enjoy your morning coffee on the terrace overlooking the water, stroll along the coastal path, or watch the tide drift in from the Menai Strait just steps away.
With Plas Newydd, Llanfair PG, the Marquis of Anglesey column and the iconic Britannia Bridge all within walking distance, Felin Hen offers the perfect base for exploring the history, culture, and natural beauty of Anglesey.
Whether you're painting by the water, reading by the fire, or simply soaking in the serene surroundings, Felin Hen is more than a place to stay — it's a place to connect, reflect, and be inspired.

Location
Sir Kyffin himself is best placed to explain how and why he ended up at Min-y-Môr in 1974 after searching around Lord and Lady Anglesey’s estate for a suitable dwelling;
‘…we turned down a rough track towards the Menai Strait. After about a quarter of a mile it turned sharply, and from a bridge over the river Braint, I could see some buildings beside a harbour. It was Pwllfanogl. The car stopped at the water’s edge in front of a house with broken windows...... The house had been empty for six years. It was an ideal situation: outside the front door lay the Menai Strait and beyond woods that grew to the water’s edge, rose the mountains of Caernarfonshire. I felt I would be lucky to live in such a place’
