Restored former coach house in the grounds of a listed residence
Back

This former Coach House would have housed the horses for the Grade II listed country home next door, Uwch y Don ('Above the Waves ' in Welsh). Today after a full renovation, The Coach House is now ready to welcome guests in considerably more comfort than the original four-legged inhabitants would have been used to!

Full Description

Step inside and you'll find the cosy sitting/TV room downstairs while the rest of the accommodation is upstairs. The main living area is a large open plan kitchen/dining/living room which offers views to the north and east over the fields with occassional glimpse of the sea. Fresh and bright and imaginatively finished, its a great room to hunker down in on a stormy winter evenings or from which to admire sunsets at the end of long summer days. There are two bedrooms along the corridor- a King Sized bedroom and a double as well as a contemporary shower room. The house is accessed through its own private gateway and there is parking for two vehicles immediately outside the house. There is a lovely courtyard garden with outside dining furniture, all sheltered by the high walls of the walled garden beyond. In the summer, swallows nest in a part of the building and their joyful aerobatics is a highlight.

Largely undiscovered compared to the rest of the island, the area boasts some of the most spectacular sandy beaches. Porth Tywyn Mawr (Sandy Beach), Porth Trefadog, Porth Trwyn and Porth Penrhyn Mawr are all within a couple of miles while Church Bay is a 5 minute drive and has the Church Bay Inn, The Wavecrest Cafe and the famous Lobster Pot restaurant as well as it's own, (busier) beach. The Coastal path passes nearby and can be accessed via lanes and footpaths from the house.

It's a lovely spot for peace and tranquility, wandering the local beaches and headlands or to use as a base for exploration of the rest of the island.

Things to do

"We stayed for a week in the Coach house and it was wonderful. We’re 2 adults a 6yr and 1.5yr olds and it was the perfect space for us. Super quiet and peaceful, Ruth and Paul were so helpful and kind - they even gave me a can of petrol when I arrived as I was running on fumes when I got there (note - petrol stations are few and far between on the island!). The house was in a great location close to loads of great beaches and sights. It was super comfortable and a great place to relax after a day on the beach. Church Bay is 10 min drive away which was beautiful. I would 1000% recommend a stay here, perfect for families! I can’t wait to go back :)"
