The Lodge at Ynys sits in one of those bucolic settings that are unique to the Llyn Peninsula. Miles and miles of green fields surround it with the small pointy hills of Garn Boduan and Garn Fadryn forming a dramatic background. Although the beaches and bustle of Abersoch and Nefyn are only 10 minutes or so away, here, peace and tranquility reign...
Full Description
Arriving here is special; the A roads through North Wales become B roads on the Llyn Peninsula. These in turn become narrower and more beautiful as the hedgerows become higher as the sea appears on your right and all becomes quieter. Finally, a long driveway snakes its way to the Lodge as the excitement increases. The first challenge for parents will be keeping the children out of the pool long enough to organise unpacking and allocating bedrooms (the pool has a retractable cover and is heated year round so no seasonal disappointments here). Next to the pool is the lovely terrace with great outdoor seating and a huge firepit- toasted marshmallows as the sun sets may be the only way to get the kids out of the pool!
Internally, the house has been carefully considered to enable a large group to spend social time together while ensuring that everyone has their own space and areas to retreat to when social batteries need recharging. There are sitting areas in the reception hall and dining room as well as in the living room. The kitchen has a range cooker and plenty of fridge and freezer space to make cooking for 20 easy and the dining room will be the focus of the fun if the weather isnt good enough to eat outside. The eight bedrooms are a good mix of doubles, singles and family rooms with options for most groups.
Its a fine spot from which to venture out and explore this beautiful part of the world but equally, there's nothing wrong with staying put, enveloping yourself in the glorious surroundings and enjoying the house while reconnecting with your fellow guests.

Location
The Lodge is in the hamlet of Boduan, its 3 miles to the north coast of the Llyn Peninsula where there are innumerable quiet, sandy coves with clear waters, Porth Colmon, Porth Ysgaden, Porth Towyn and Porthor (Whistling Sands) amongst our favourites. Near Nefyn (3 miles), you'll find the famous Ty Coch pub on Porthdinllaen beach, often voted amonst the top 10 beach bars in the world. The south coast of the Llyn is busier; if you want a bit of glamour, head to Abersoch where there are great shops and restaurants and a laid back surf vibe. Dont miss the iconic Cwt Tatws on the beach in nearby Tudweiliog.
The owners live next door and run a clay shooting school where days can be organised.
