A peaceful Hideaway just a stone's throw from Lleiniog beach
Gwel y Fenai (Menai View) is part of a prestigious redevelopment of the former barns at Aberlleiniog Manor. Overlooking the Menai Strait and over the Carneddau and Snowdonia mountains, this lovely holiday cottage is just a stone's throw from Lleiniog beach.
This peaceful Hideaway has been delicately designed, and the restoration work across the whole manor has reused and preserved as many existing buildings as possible. It has a long history, stretching back to its association with the nearby Aberlleiniog Castle, a motte and bailey fortification built between 1080 and 1099.
Gwel y Fenai retains many characterful features and has been finished with a modern twist; it forms part of a development of former farm barns and outbuildings buildings which are in process of full restoration.
This is an upside-down house, created specifically to make best use of the sea and mountain views from the first floor.
On the ground floor is a modern well equipped kitchen, a twin bedroom and a bathroom, all beautifully presented. Upstairs is the main living/dining area, a king-size bedroom and a shower room.
The Anglesey coastal path passes along the nearby beach and makes this a perfect Bolthole for cosy winter walking breaks away from it all.
Equally, this is a lovely quiet base for longer stays when you may wish to explore further afield and enjoy the odd foray into bustling Beaumaris which is only a few minutes drive away.
From Gwel Y Fenai, there are plenty of places to head out to stretch your legs. Along with the the Anglesey coastal path which you can hop onto almost from your door, Lleiniog beach is just a short stroll away and Penmon Priory and Black Point Lighthouse are just down the road. The Pilot House Cafe sits on the point, ideal for a pit stop after you've explored the headland. Within a mile from the cottage is the little village of Llangoed which has a village shop, useful for topping up on basics.
You’re within striking distance of top sights and historic places: Beaumaris is a short drive with its medieval castle, Victorian pier, quirky shops and restaurants. Enjoy the splendour of National Trust properties Plas Newydd and Penrhyn Castle and explore the beautiful gardens at Plas Cadnant. For the golfers, Henllys Golf Club is also a mile or so away. And within half an hour's drive, you can visit Snowdonia and do some high adrenalin zip-wiring at Zip World. So much to do, you will be spoilt for choice!
