Family fun on Anglesey this autumn.

An October half-term holiday that brings roses to the kids’ cheeks, tempts the teens from the screens, and lets you unwind as a family. Anglesey is not just a destination, it’s a way of life. Take a break from the norm and recharge your batteries before we charge headlong into the season of juggling work deadlines with last minute elf-costume chaos in Christmas play season.

Autumn is sublime on Anglesey and there’s loads to do to keep everyone happy across the family, whether you hit the jackpot with sunny skies or it’s more of a blustery week. Here are just some of the delights this special corner of the world has in store.

Tramping through an autumnal forest is hard to beat, and there are so many enchanting woodland areas to explore in North Wales and on Anglesey.

Keep the kids on board with a ‘’spot the red squirrel contest’’ in the beautiful Newborough Forest. These bright little beauties can be found throughout the woodland especially within Llyn Parc Mawr where feeders tempt them to pop up. Extra points for those who can tell you a fun fact on the iconic reds. (Here are a couple for starters: they have four fingers, five toes, and can be left or right-handed, just like humans!)

If you tire of nature-spotting, flat cycling tracks by the beach give the kids a bit of freedom with a safe and fun ride. Look up towards wide open skies and you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Snowdonia and the Llŷn Peninsula. Intrigued? Cae Coch is the perfect hideaway for families wanting to explore the wonders of Newborough Forest.

Or fancy immersing yourself in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) itself? Our largest national park, Eryri, boasts views and landscapes that need no introduction.

The best part of embarking on this adventure with your family is knowing that you’ll take home memories to last a lifetime. Even on rainier days, Anglesey still has a treasure trove of indoor activities to keep the young explorers entertained and mums and dads relaxed.

For animal enthusiasts, look no further than Pili Palas Nature World. Kids can explore the animal kingdom – in the tropical house you can find everything from snakes to arachnids!

A trip to Anglesey isn’t complete without uncovering at least a slither of its rich culture. The Oriel Ynys Môn Museum’s interactive exhibits bring Anglesey’s past to life, from dinosaurs to the tales of shipwrecks and pirates.

And, of course, a visit to one of Anglesey’s many charming tearooms is a must! Sipping a hot chocolate sprinkled with marshmallows or nibbling on freshly baked scones as the rain pitter-patters on the windowpane is a sure-fire crowd pleaser.
