Four beachfront hideaways to bolt straight to the sea from

Picture this: it’s May half term, days are long, the sun is beaming and you’ve flung open your front door to watch your little ones scamper down to the sea in their swimming gear. Full of excitement for days without routine, it’s a halcyon time to revel in all that North Wales has to offer before summer crowds descend.

We’ve collected a few of our most special boltholes where you can do just this – enjoy the first dip of 2024 straight from your doorstep, whilst being close enough to scurry back to a snack and a dry towel. After the past couple of months of grey, there is no better way to secure a slice of springtime bliss for you and your family.

For your closest clan…

Try the much-loved Beachcomber’s. A space for four with the spectacular and undiscovered Borthwen Beach as its garden and the coastal path on its doorstep. While away family hours rockpooling and discovering hidden coves on Anglesey’s northwest coast – four-legged friends are welcome, too. At the end of the day, retreat to your hideaway where you can peer out to sea views from nearly every window.

Or try the wild and wonderful Ty Cwyfan. One of our newest spaces, it’s truly a place for you and your loved ones to rewild and connect with nature. Adventurous souls will love this spot – think winding coastal footpaths, ancient burial mounds and caves to explore. If you prefer to stay closer to home, the garden is teeming with wildlife and the fisherman’s cottage for four is an inviting nook to retreat to.

Thinking bigger?

Occupying perhaps the finest spot on the sublime east coast of Anglesey is Moryn – a heavenly cottage for six perched above its very own private beach. With endless views over the bay, sit atop your secret clifftop garden and watch loved ones play on the shores below. For crowd-pleasing woodfired pizzas, take the short stroll west to the Lligwy Beach Café – and maybe sneak in an evening G&T or two.

For a true showstopper, book Pen Y Graig whilst it’s available! On its very own headland, this extraordinary space is surrounded by sandy beaches, walled gardens and terraces. Little ones will be kept busy exploring paths through the heather to secret follies, as you sit back and enjoy sunset-facing decks or crackling fires indoors. Should you wish to venture further afield, there are excellent local restaurants a stone’s throw away – but, like most Pen Y Graig guests, you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from the magic of this place.
