After a day spent barefoot on the beach or wandering the clifftop paths, come home to one of two inviting sitting rooms. The main sitting room is wonderfully cosy, with shelves of books and a collection of classic, antique-style furnishings that make it an especially lovely spot to curl up with a good read. In the second sitting room, a handsome dining table provides the perfect place for a family board game, while the TV offers entertainment for younger guests.
The kitchen is equally welcoming, with beautiful wooden cabinetry, a large range cooker and everything you need to rustle up a hearty supper after a day outdoors. There’s also a second dining table – just the spot for leisurely breakfasts before heading out for another day of seaside adventures.
There’s a shower room with separate basin and WC on the ground floor, while upstairs you’ll find a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Two charming double bedrooms occupy the first floor, each with quality bedding, generous storage and lovely views towards the sea and surrounding countryside. On the floor above are a pretty twin bedroom and a single room, making a particularly good arrangement for children.
Outside, the large garden is a delight, with plenty of lawn for younger guests to let off steam and a decking area where grown-ups can settle down with a cold drink and make the most of the sunshine. When evening comes, light the wood-burning stove, settle into one of the sitting rooms and enjoy the simple pleasure of being together.
And then there’s the coast. The Llyn Coastal Path practically begins on the doorstep, leading you along dramatic cliffs and through some wonderfully wild scenery. Whether you’re a serious walker or more of a fair-weather wanderer, there are plenty of excuses to stop along the way for coffee, cake or a pint in a welcoming pub. The legendary Ty Coch Inn, tucked away on the beach at Porthdinllaen, is a particular highlight and has been named among the best beach bars in the world.
Golfers can head to Nefyn & District Golf Club, where the fairways meet the coast, while Pwllheli offers watersports, a harbour to potter around and the inevitable fish and chips. With Snowdonia and Criccieth also within easy reach, there’s plenty to explore when you can tear yourself away from Nefyn.
One of Afallon’s most enchanting extras is its secluded beach hut (included in the cost from April to October, optional extra in winter). Perched on the clifftop above the beach, it enjoys breathtaking views across Nefyn Bay and sits within a beautiful garden planted with an abundance of flora and fauna by the owner. It’s wonderfully equipped for a carefree day by the sea, with buckets and spades, deckchairs, picnic-preparation space and even a camping stove for those all-important cups of tea.
Public parking is available nearby, although spaces can become harder to find during the busier summer months.
With its cosy interiors, generous garden, glorious coastal walks and rather special beach hut, Afallon is the sort of place that makes it very easy to forget the outside world for a while. Come for the beaches and the scenery, stay for the slow mornings, sandy feet and evenings gathered around the fire.

Location
A few minutes walk along a footpath and the lane gets you to the beach at Nefyn for a picnic and the gentle sound of lapping waves. The cafe on the slipway is fantastic. Further along Nefyn beach you'll find Porthdinllaen and its famous beach pub- the Ty Coch Inn. In Nefyn itself there are great pubs and restaurants including the community owner Tafarn yr Heliwr and the Nanhoron Arms. The community Spar shop is heavily stocked for local produce and provisions. Stock up with delights at Bragdy Llyn (a micro-brewery a couple of minutes walk away) – or stay and sample the beers at the hidden bar there on the edge of the village.
A great base for exploring the North Wales coast and mountains – seaside towns Abersoch, Pwllheli and Porthmadog are nearby. A short drive will take you to the Snowdonia National Park where you can zipwire, walk and cycle.
