Things to do

"We hired Mynydd Ednyfed for a surprise birthday gathering. From the moment the booking was confirmed I felt that we had made the right choice. The contact and speed of response, to my many crazy questions, from the host was amazing. Maureen was incredibly supportive and very keen to help where she could. A really great start.

On arrival we were greeted by Maureen who gave us a quick tour of the downstairs, the floor plan for the upstairs rooms, that is available on the website, is super useful and made room allocation very easy! My advice to any guest is READ THE GUEST BOOK. The property is large and there is no way that Maureen can take you through all of the details, but the bible that is the guest book has all the information you need.

The property is quite simply delightful. Immaculately clean and it has everything you would need for a fabulous weekend gathering with friends, the bar area was a particular hit and just made a really relaxed space, and kept us all from gathering in the kitchen!! There is lots to keep adults and families entertained and the outdoor spaces are fantastic. Rain made the indoors used more than we would have wanted but it didn’t matter because 21 people had plenty of space to not be on top of each other. The children used the pool and ping pong tables as well as the huge TV in the sitting room whilst the adults made use of the fabulous conservatory and bar area.

On the Saturday we had all planned to walk up Snowdon, which we did, and the house is perfectly situated to get there in 30 mins. For those that don’t fancy walking a mountain, Criccieth is lovely with a beautiful beach and plenty of low level, and less strenuous things to do. The propriety is only a short distance from town, but best to drive than walk, but absolutely fab regardless. To be honest though, if you rent Mynydd Ednyfed you don’t really need to go anywhere as it is just wonderful and very easy to host a large group, without you being on top of each other, whilst also being super comfortable. In the evening we sampled the Aga suppers which were ‘out of this world’! They were super tasty, we went for the fish pie and beef bourgignon which were both amazing and perfect for hungry hikers!

Back to the house……the kitchen area is great and very well stocked with plenty of utensils, crockery etc. to host large groups. If I had one criticism it was that I wish we had been advised to bring washing liquid, dishwasher tablets and bin bags. It might be that there were some and I just didn’t look hard enough (or ask). There is a great recycling system and easy access bins to put everything in so tidying up wasn’t a problem at the end of the weekend.

So, if I could give this place 10 stars I would! Maureen is wonderful, incredibly friendly and helpful and the house is simply stunning. Beautifully kept, wonderful gardens and indoor spaces, amazingly comfortable and well supplied. I couldn’t recommend this enough for anyone looking for a country home where it is for adults or families, active or less adventurous. A wonderful place that we are thinking of going back to next year!!!

Apologies for the photos, www we’re having so much fun I didn’t take many of the house!!

Thank you!!!"
