Newly renovated and right on the beach
Back

The Gun Room is a newly converted cottage which is one of only three houses on this sandy promontory of the Cymyran strait which separates Anglesey from Ynys Cybi (Holy Island). It's accessed along a gated private track alongside the beach and there's a real sense of wilderness and peace once you arrive. And, of course, that special quality of light you find in remote places on west coasts. The sense of adventure that builds as you take note of the tides and cross the beach to get to the house only adds to the experience.

Full Description

The Gun Room is a quaint old whitewashed fishermans cottage on the outside but thoroughly modern and practical inside. The front door leads through to the foyer and then through to the open living/dining/kitchen space. Window seats look out to sea and a wood burning stove takes care of colder evenings. Upstairs there are two lovely bedrooms and a shiny new shower room. There's plenty of parking outside and also a garden area with dining furniture, sheltered in the lee of the cottage. Or take a barbeque on to the beach to watch the sun set over your own slice of paradise.

Location

The sands outside stretch all the way along the inland sea in one direction and in the other direction, the beach stretches all the way to Rhosneigr, a worthwhile 2 mile walk away over the dunes. Lladron Crigyll (the Crigyll Pirates) used to lure ships to their doom on this wild beach and plunder the spoils; its a bit more civilised these days although the ship's wheel in the sitting room is from the clipper Norman Court, wrecked on the beach in 1883.

"We have had a lovely week, the weather has been great for this time of year. Lots of beach walking and watching the planes. The highlight was seeing 3 red arrows take off in unison. We have a great photo. Thanks for letting us stay."
"Had an absolutely lovely time! A beautiful cottage in an amazing spot. Walked miles every day on every corner of the Island. Bird spotting & cowrie hunting at teatime - Brilliant. "
"Amazing air bnb! The best we have stopped at ever. Spotless, beautiful surroundings, very tasteful and modern. We love Anglesey and will definitely stop here again. Xx"
